CCDC was delighted to help the operator secure funding from Argyll & Bute Council’s Islands Infrastructure Fund for the creation of Colonsay’s first campsite.
The site is tent-only on a community-owned croft, discrete and off-grid, catering for those wishing to bring a car whilst still enjoying something of the wild camping experience.
For several years CCDC and the wider community had aspired to create a campsite, and after the increase in camping through the pandemic the lack of this facility on the island came more sharply into focus.
CCDC’s crofting tenant is developing and running the site on one of the Lower Kilchattan crofts, a spot with fantastic sea views.
